Oppose Orphan Works
This post was put up on Moly_19 and I think it's important enough that everyone should see it. I read it and was shocked at what's going on behind our backs.

Hi all. I thought this article at "Drawn" might be of importance to many of us who post our art online. Please don't hesitate to take action as soon as possible. It only takes about five minutes.

helped proofread some of the letters that are available here at the Illustrator's Partnership website: http://capwiz.com/illustratorspartnership/home/

It is critical that we stop this! I know some of my fellow medical illustrators were meeting with Sens. Clinton and Kennedy to try and get a champion on our side.

One of the things that caught me about this is that if you get an email entitled "Holding the Sun", I took two of the pictures that are used in it. The pictures are people positioned in a way that it appears they are holding the sun at sunset. A friend sent it to me, he got it from a friend of his in California. I'm in Colorado. I scrolled down and was suprised to see my two kids in it! My wife has a friend that had already recieved a copy of it without knowing that it was from me....

What bothers me about this is it's easy to take an artist's creation (photo, drawing, illustration, etc.) and use it without credit or compensation. I'm not saying I wanted money for my image being used in an email that thousands and thousands of people will be seeing, but it would be kind of nice to be credited.

Megan. Thank you for the work you are doing toward this.
